HOW TO SUPPORT US

LINKS

We are always pleased to meet new members. Maybe you last sang at school, at college or only in the bath. Why not join LUTON CHORAL SOCIETY for a rehearsal and experience the joy of choral singing? You can contact our membership secretary for further details or you will receive a warm welcome if you simply turn up at one of our weekly rehearsals.

WHERE DO WE REHEARSE? We meet on Tuesday evenings, during school term times (September to July), at St. Paul's Church, at the junction of Latimer Road, New Town Street and New Town Road, Luton. Please contact any Society member for directions. We offer patrolled car parking during the rehearal (£1).

HOW MUCH TIME WILL IT TAKE? Usually, we perform 3 concerts and a carol concert per season, rehearsing from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., from September to July (school term times). For those between work and home there is a short tea/coffee break at around 8:45 p.m. - an ideal opportunity to meet other members. A further afternoon rehearsal on concert days will also be arranged.

I CAN'T READ MUSIC. Obviously, if you can read music, you will learn much faster. However, many people develop the skill of understanding how to read music through choral singing.

I DO NOT HAVE A TRAINED VOICE. Untrained voices (provided that they are in tune) can still provide a good blend of sound in a choir. Voice production and singing techniques may be improved during rehearsals.

FULL MEMBERSHIP. Prospective members may wish to attend one or two rehearsals before joining as a full member. Our Musical Director may also be able to provide assistance in the event that a member is unsure which vocal part is best suited their singing voice.

Subscriptions (139th Season):
Full Membership: (£135.00)
Joint Membership (£250.00)

Full Membership (£16.90)
Joint Membership (£31.25)
Concessionary Membership (£13.15)

If you are a taxpayer, you can sign a Gift Aid form which allows the society, as a registered charity, to recover the tax from the Inland Revenue

CONCERT DRESS - From 2008/2009 Season.
For men – black dinner suits, white shirt, black bow tie.
For ladies – long (full length) black skirts or black trousers and black tops - any style.

HOW DO I OBTAIN MUSIC? Music can be purchased or hired through our librarian or maybe you have just the thing gathering dust in the loft!
